Liberty Quilt for Summer.

As you are probably all aware I had a brand new baby niece this July.

For her first Christmas I knew I wanted to make her a quilt, well another quilt. The first one I made her was started before she was born and not pink.

I had to make her a pink one, not just any old pink one but it had to be a pink Liberty one. This was really just an excuse for me to buy some Liberty fabric but I do think it was a good excuse.

As I wanted it be be a bit scrappy and my stash of Liberty fabric is a bit thin on the ground I decided the best way to go was to contact the wonderful Kim at Worn and Washed Fabrics and explain what I was after and she very kindly put me a bundle together.

It took me a few weeks of cutting and sewing but soon came together. It was my first time sewing with the lighter Liberty fabric and I was nervous at first it did feel a bit slippery to handle but all in all I'm pleased with how it ended up.

I bought a metre of Liberty for the back of the quilt from Fabrics Galore at the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show and managed to hide it from Natalie.

I used all the bigger strips I had left for a scrappy binding and finished it a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Just as well as I had at that point to make another two quilts for presents for another older Niece and Nephew but more of then in another blog post.

I will leave you know with another picture of my adorable niece.

A Walk in The Woods Quilt.

One of the reasons we started our our little shop in 2012 was because we had fallen in love with the Sherbet Pips range by Aneela Hoey but were unable to buy all the ones I wanted in the UK.

Walk in the Woods was the first range we ordered and we had it all, every last design.
Our first show was in Malvern in May 2012 and as you can understand we were both nervous and excited at the same time. At that show we met so many lovely people one of whom was Lucy, she bought lots of the lovely Walk in the Woods fabric to make a quilt for her daughter.

I can't explain how excited I was when she returned to us at the Malvern show in Autumn and bought the quilt she had made to show us.

Thank you Lucy for sharing this with us.

Spring Carnival

I'm the sort of person that can't sit still and just watch TV. It drives my Husband & Kids mad. I have to be doing something either, flicking through a magazine or better still sewing.

Lately I have been EPPing!

I took Katy's class at the Fat Quarterly Retreat in London in way, way back July and loved it! I started this cushion at the retreat.

and then started another one using our Riley Blake Bundles and some solids.

Which I made into a mini quilt which is hanging in my sewing room. I've also finished another one for my sister Natalie, I gave the finished top to her to turn onto a cushion.

I have started on a Christmas one using the scraps Natalie had left over from her Riley Blake Christmas quilt but only had enough to make one circle so I cobbled together the remaining scraps and made this cushion.

It's was the first Christmas decoration to be put out this year (well after my son put his Christmas Tree up in his room on the 18th November!)

I've got the EPP bug well and truly now and am starting a new EPP project for 2014, this time I'm having a go at the Georgetown Carnival pillow (page 196) in this book, but scaling it down a bit.

Happy EPPing!

Fresh New Fabric Delivery

Hello everyone, I still can't believe it's now 2014 can you?
All the Christmas decorations are packed away & the new calendar is hung. I've entered all the School Holidays, Birthdays and all the other stuff but still need a new diary.

Natalie has been busy and has listed all the lovely new stuff we had delivered before Christmas so in the shop now are these lovely Feathers and Text from Alison Glass.

It feels like we have been waiting forever to get these in and were are still waiting on a couple of other colour ways but these will do me for now!

Also new are these Paintbox Navy Geometrics by Cynthia Rowley for Michael Miller they are just amazing the colours really pop.

Also newly listed although we took delivery a little while ago is Bluebird Park from Moda and Enchanted Forest from Dashwood Studios.

And this fantastic glasses print from Robert Kaufman, I'm going to have a go at making a Box Pouch for our 3D glasses. I forget them every time we go to the pictures so I figure If I make a pretty pouch & leave it in the car then I'll have them next time we go!

Happy Sewing.
